Once every three years Donggang spends eight days welcoming the plague deities, ending with the burning of a full size wooden king boat at Zhenhai Park.

About this event
Expected dates. The Ministry of Culture confirms the ceremony is triennial, organised around Donglong Temple and concluding at Zhenhai Park, and the 2024 edition ran for eight days and seven nights from 28 September to 5 October, so the same window is expected for the 2027 edition. Rituals include inviting the deities, processions through the town, and the final burning of the king boat to send the Wang Ye deities back to the heavenly court. The ceremony began in 1684 and was listed as part of Taiwan's intangible cultural heritage in 2011. It is one of the largest folk religious events in southern Taiwan and fills the town for its full run.
