About this event
Peace Memorial Day is fixed by statute on 28 February and is a public holiday; because it falls on a Sunday in 2027, the DGPA calendar gives a substitute rest day on Monday 1 March, making a three day break from 27 February. The central commemoration ceremony is held at the 228 Peace Memorial Park in Taipei, with exhibitions and concerts at the Taipei 228 Memorial Museum and memorial events in cities across Taiwan. The day is solemn rather than festive, and many families also use the long weekend for early spring trips.
