About this event
Exact dates are not yet announced, because clan elders set them one to two months ahead. The Bureau of Cultural Heritage register entry for the rite states it is held around the 15th day of the tenth lunar month, which falls in late November 2026, opening with the south group at Xiangtian Lake in Nanzhuang and continuing the next day with the north group at Da'ai in Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County. Since the Japanese era the cycle has been a small festival every two years and a grand festival every ten years with the red and white sinaton banner, and 2026 is a grand festival year following 2016. Visitors may watch only from the designated entertainment area and must follow the ritual rules, including never touching the banner. Viewing is free.
