About this event
The Directorate-General of Personnel Administration (DGPA) 2027 government office calendar gives Founding Day, 1 January, as a public holiday, forming a three day break from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 January 2027. Taipei marks the day with the New Year flag raising ceremony in front of the Presidential Office Building and city celebrations. Hotels and trains are busy as residents take short domestic trips. The holiday itself is fixed by statute on 1 January each year.
