About this event
Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month, which in 2027 is Saturday 20 February; Miaoli County Government's 2027 Taiwan Lantern Festival announcement states the same date and lunar rule. It is a statutory folk festival under the commemorative days and festivals act published with the DGPA 2027 calendar, though not a public holiday. Across Taiwan the night brings lantern displays, tangyuan rice balls, riddles, temple fairs and the country's big regional lantern events. It is the anchor date for the Pingxi, Yanshui, Taitung and Miaoli celebrations in this calendar.
