About this event
Published Chinese calendar sources list Qixi on Sunday 8 August 2027. The festival retells the legend of Niulang the Cowherd and Zhinü the Weaver Girl, separated by the Milky Way and allowed to meet once a year across a bridge of magpies. In Taiwan, couples mark the day with dates and gifts, and temples dedicated to matchmaking deities draw young visitors. Older customs include praying to the Weaver Girl for skill in needlework and crafts. In 2026 the Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf summer fireworks included a Qixi themed show, reflecting how the date anchors late summer programming.
